About this Event
Join us for an evening hike at Mary Gray Bird Sanctuary as we search for the American Woodcock, a secretive bird known for its distinctive “peent” calls and spiral courtship flights at dusk. Learn about this fascinating species while listening and watching as daylight fades. We’ll follow Jeremy Proeschel, Program Manager at Cope Environmental Center, into the woods to listen for their distinctive calls and watch for their unique courtship “sky dance” at dusk.
📍 Participants will meet on March 14 at 7 p.m. at Brooks Hall. Come prepared for the weather! Participants will want to wear sturdy shoes in case of mud, and bring a headlamp or flashlight for hiking after dusk.
