The word Vespers comes from a Latin word “vesperae” which means “evening star” or “evening.” Vespers is part of the Liturgy of Hours or the Daily Office of the Church which falls in and around dusk or early evening. Vespers (also known as Evening Prayer or Evensong) is a service of scripture and prayer.
