Jonny Woo, London based, visionary, alt-drag and cabaret artist, brings his hit show ’Suburbia’ to Colchester Arts Center. A unique blend of spoken word, story-telling and performance art, Suburbia is a poetic memoir about his life from his childhood in the Medway Towns, Kent, to discovering the drug 'ecstasy' in the 1990's, the clubs of New York and to building a queer community in London. Now in his fifties, Woo is reflective and honest about the secrets he harboured and the lessons he learnt. His wit is sharp and his desire to shock and surprise is evident throughout. ‘Suburbia’ played to packed houses at Soho Theatre, London in 2025 and to critical acclaim at Summerhall as part of their Edinburgh Fringe, 2025 programme.
