Honoring the Legacy of Black Military Women
In celebration of Women’s History Month, the National Association of Black Military Women – Los Angeles Chapter (NABMW-LA) invites the community to a special program honoring the service, leadership, and legacy of Black military women.
For generations, Black women have served in the United States Armed Forces with courage and distinction — from World War II to today’s active-duty service members. Despite their contributions, many of their stories remain underrepresented in traditional historical narratives.
Through NABMW’s HerStory initiative, the organization is committed to preserving and amplifying the voices and experiences of Black military women while also addressing the challenges many women veterans face today.
This Women’s History Month program will bring together active-duty service members, veterans, students, community leaders, and advocates to reflect on this legacy and explore solutions that support women who have served.
Why This Event Matters
Black military women have served our nation with distinction for generations, yet their contributions have often gone unrecognized in traditional historical narratives.
At the same time, many women veterans today face challenges including housing instability, barriers to accessing earned benefits, and the lasting impacts of military sexual trauma.
This program brings together veterans, active-duty service members, students, and community leaders to honor the legacy of Black military women while advancing conversations and solutions that support women who have served.
