About this Event
On behalf of the Women’s Homelessness Alliance, you are invited to our first conversation about women-only spaces within homelessness services.
This is an opportunity to connect, learn and discuss what it means to center women’s needs and experiences in homelessness support, while acknowledging the complexities of gender, identity and statutory frameworks.
We hope to create a safe and supportive space to share experiences, reflect honestly on what is and isn’t working, learn from one another and join a growing alliance committed to ending women’s homelessness across the North East.
We will welcome a wide range of perspectives to explore how to meaningfully embed women’s lived experience into homelessness provision, as we look to build a shared understanding that can inform future funding, policies and collaboration across the region.
This will be a reflective, non-judgemental discussion grounded in the realities of frontline delivery in the North East.
Together, we’ll consider:
- What it’s like to support women experiencing homelessness right now, and what would help improve access to services
- How organisations create physical and psychological safety for women within current constraints
- Experiences of working with women-only services and partnerships
- What trauma-informed support looks like in practice, and how women’s lived experience can shape what comes next
Who should attend?
- Organisations across the VCSE who support women experiencing homelessness
- Women with lived experience
About the Women’s Homelessness Alliance
Mission: To end all forms of women’s homelessness within the North East.
Vision: The Women’s Homelessness Alliance seeks to ensure women’s experiences are made visible, that their needs are understood, and homelessness services are shaped using the real experiences of women.
Why: Women’s homelessness is often hidden and, as a result, is not adequately represented in strategies to address the issue. Currently, there are no regional strategies, policies, or funding frameworks to collectively prevent and end women’s homelessness in the region.
How: Using our collective voice, the Women’s Homelessness Alliance will raise awareness of current issues that require change, to support women experiencing homelessness, coordinating regionally to avoid duplicating efforts.
We are stronger when we work together. We will support women facing homelessness by uniting organisations, sharing available support, and championing women-focused solutions together.
