Curious about a career in the skilled trades? Join us for an engaging 4-week workshop series designed to introduce women to the world of skilled trades, build confidence with tools, and explore pathways to rewarding careers in the industry.
Hosted as part of the Resilient Woman Program, this series provides practical knowledge, hands-on learning, and valuable insight into opportunities within trades such as construction, electrical, carpentry, and more. Whether you are exploring a career change, building new skills, or simply interested in learning about the trades, this workshop series offers a welcoming and supportive environment to get started.
Participants will gain foundational knowledge about workplace safety, tools, apprenticeship pathways, and earning potential, while also connecting with mentors and peers who are passionate about empowering women in non-traditional career fields.
Workshop Schedule
Week 1: Workplace Safety Awareness & Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Learn the fundamentals of workplace safety in skilled trades environments, including hazard awareness and the proper use of personal protective equipment to stay safe on the job.
Week 2: Tool Knowledge & Effective Usage
Get introduced to common tools used across various trades. Participants will learn tool identification, proper handling, and practical applications.
Week 3: Exploring Trades, Earnings & Apprenticeships
Discover the wide range of opportunities available within skilled trades. This session will cover career pathways, apprenticeship programs, earning potential, and how to get started in the industry.
Week 4: Hands-On Skills Workshop
Put your learning into practice during a guided hands-on session where participants will apply tool knowledge and safety practices in a practical setting.
