From research to real-world impact—turn your ideas into market-ready innovation with Labs4.
This session will introduce Labs4 and its programs, which support researcher-entrepreneurs in advancing innovations toward commercialization. Participants will gain insight into how Labs4 connects academia and industry to accelerate innovation and drive real-world impact.
The session will also highlight key opportunities, resources, and pathways available through Labs4 programs, helping attendees navigate the journey from research to market.
In addition, the session will showcase how the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) supports companies at all stages—from early technology concept development to the commercialization and scaling of existing solutions—across sectors such as IT, manufacturing, healthcare, and life sciences.
Participants will also learn about key funding opportunities, including OCI C2C, NSERC ARD, Mitacs Accelerate, and Mobilize, which can provide industry partners with up to a 5:1 return on investment.
ABOUT THE SPEAKERS
Dr. Muge Abac
Dr. Muge Abac is a strategy and innovation professional with over a decade of experience spanning academia and industry. She holds a Ph.D. in Strategy and Management and a Master’s in Global Marketing and Brand Management. Currently, she serves as Ontario Hub Manager for the NSERC-funded Labs4 program at Humber Polytechnic, where she supports researcher-entrepreneurs in advancing innovations toward commercialization. Her work focuses on strategy development, innovation management, entrepreneurship, and project management, with a strong emphasis on translating ideas into real-world impact.

Stefanie Bernaudo
Stefanie is the Associate Dean, Grants and Research Development at Humber Polytechnic’s Office of Research and Innovation. She brings over eight years of experience in research grant development, with previous roles at the University of Toronto Mississauga and York University. Stefanie holds a PhD in Biological Sciences and specializes in research strategy, grant writing, and stakeholder engagement.
Rita Liu
Rita is the Industry Outreach Coordinator at Humber Polytechnic’s Office of Research and Innovation. In her role, she focuses on partnership development and event engagement for applied research opportunities across sectors such as life sciences, healthcare, technology, manufacturing, and more. She brings over four years of experience in business development and client success. Rita holds a Master’s in Professional Education from Western University.
