About this Event
Join North-Central Ohio Women Owning Woodlands for a women-focused chainsaw training workshop! This CSAW (Chainsaw Safety Awareness that Works) is a crash course in the essentials for operating and maintaining a chainsaw safely and effectively to meet your property-management goals. The workshop is held in two parts: First, registrants will gain access to the Online Women's+ Chainsaw Safety Course. We encourage all participants to complete this online portion before the in-person session. Then, we will convene at the Akron University Field Station in Bath, Ohio to experience hands-on learning with a CSAW instructor to experience personal protective equipment, saws, and the tools used to maintain them.
Bring your own equipment and get help with specific maintenance OR borrow equipment at the training. We highly encourage participants to bring the saws/equipment they intend to use at home!
A limited amount of scholarships are available for those who have financial need--please inquire directly to [email protected] if you would like information about available scholarships for this training.
Through each of the two parts of this Training you will...
- Learn how to safely start and use a chainsaw
- Learn about chainsaw maintenance
- Get hands-on chainsaw use including...log-bucking, limbing, cutting away storm debris, and proper tree felling procedure
- Have access to experts for your questions about real-life tree/debris-cutting situations
- Registration includes:
- An in-person, full-day training with an Ohio Forestry Association-approved instructor
- Opportunity to use a chainsaw including felling a tree
- Lunch
- Access to the Online Women's+ Chainsaw Safety Course.**
**The course takes around 4+ hours to get through, so we encourage registrants to make enough time to complete the entire online portion prior to October 12th.
