Deconstructing the Gender Paradigm: Supporting Male Survivors in AAPI Communities
Womankind's 2025 Anti-Human Trafficking Conference aims to provide a nuanced understanding of how gender dynamics affect survivors of labor trafficking in Asian American and Asian immigrant communities. In doing so, we hope to ultimately strengthen more inclusive and effective support systems. Panelists will analyze the gender paradigm, which includes traditional beliefs and norms related to gender roles and identities, and explore how society shapes and enforces these expectations. Additionally, they will offer suggestions on how to better support male survivors of labor trafficking, while avoiding the reinforcement of these norms.
