Join Watermill Wolves and White Raven Ceremonies this summer for a truly special solstice celebration filled with fun, folklore and fireside tales of Norse myths and legends.
This is your chance to get up close with the Watermill wolfies themselves as they lead you into their woods for an unforgettable midsummer.
White Raven Ceremonies will be leading the celebrations by weaving the spellbinding tale of the celestial wolves, Hati and Skol. Take your place around the campfire on the longest day of the year to hear how the duo chase Sol and Mani across the sky.
The Watermill wolves will be mingling with us, enjoying the retelling of the myths and welcoming you to their domain. You will even have the chance to spend some time with them, an experience that will leave a lasting impression on your heart.
In the late afternoon, before we meet around the campfire, the talented troop of Anderida Border Morris will be leading us in music, dance and shenanigans.
A ceremony of thanksgiving will round off the evening, marking the turning of the season. You are most welcome to bring an offering of thanks that you feel appropriate to cast into the flames or leave on the solstice hearga.
The evening’s event begins at 4.30pm with tickets costing just £20 per head. Children 5-12yrs £15.
If you have a camp chair, please bring one along as well as any drinks.
~Why Not Make a Day and Night of It?~
For those wanting to make their Saturday even more unforgettable there’s an opportunity to spend a relaxed few hours in the company of the Watermill Wolves wolfdogs prior to the evening’s celebration. Meet some of the Wolfheart sanctuary residents and learn their stories, have a fuss with the friendly ambassador animals (including this year’s youngsters) and see a short demo of some of their training, or stroll with them around the woods.
You can even add on a ‘feed the wolfies’ short experience at the end, before relaxing with some pack members and their handlers in the meadow for a generous BBQ. (Dietary preferences can be catered for. Suitable all ages.)
There will also be the chance to camp over and welcome in the midsummer dawn on Sunday 21st with your fellow revellers. You can book your overnight camping or glamping with Watermill Wolves and Wolfdogs, sleeping to the sound of wolf song, including breakfast baps and morning hot drinks after the dawn solstice sunrise celebrations (campers only). For bookings and details about the earlier midsummer wolfie meet, BBQ and camping, please contact Adam and Natalie directly via email: [email protected] .
NOTE: if you’re staying from BBQ through to Breakfast, a combined discount can be offered but tickets for the White Raven solstice celebration need to be booked separately.
Watermill Wolves
The Watermill Wolves acting team have graced screen and print for many years, featuring in productions such as ‘Vikings’, ‘Ripper Street’ and ‘Penny Dreadful’, and in magazine features including ‘Vogue’ and ‘Marie Claire’.
The Watermill Wolves acting team are a specially selected pack of wolfdogs – carefully bred for many generations to be the ‘best of both’ – to retain the natural poise, power and elegance of the wolf, combined with the best social and trainable temperaments.
Several generations of Watermill Wolves have called our Sussex Centre home – they live as part of the family, alongside humans and even other small dogs.
For many years, under the guidance of their ‘mum’, behaviourist and trainer Natalie Lagstrom, they have taken part in a wide range of roles – from acting and modelling to conservation ambassadors and educators.
