About this Event
The Washington International Young Artists Music Series (WIYAMS) proudly opens its 2026 season with Timeless Treasures, an inspiring afternoon that celebrates the depth, brilliance, and diversity of the classical tradition.
This concert brings together extraordinary young artists in a journey across centuries of music. The piano repertoire alone travels from the radiant colors of Claude Debussy to the driving energy of György Ligeti, the emotional intensity of Ludwig van Beethoven’s “Appassionata,” and the poetic lyricism of Franz Schubert. We also hear Johann Sebastian Bach through the lush Romantic voice of Sergei Rachmaninoff, a beautiful meeting of eras.
Beyond the piano, the program offers the excitement of the famous tenor aria from La fille du régiment by Gaetano Donizetti, intimate Romantic works by Robert Schumann and Nikolai Medtner, music by Fanny Mendelssohn, and vibrant contemporary sounds from Valerie Coleman and Katherine Hoover, as well as a brilliant trumpet showpiece by Vassily Brandt.
It is an afternoon of contrast and connection—Baroque clarity, Romantic passion, and modern color—all brought to life by the next generation of remarkable performers.
Reserve your seats and join us for this extraordinary season opening, followed by a reception where you can meet the artists and celebrate together. There is free parking in the Southwest Quad Garage on Sundays. Follow the official website: www. wiyams.com for more information.
