About this Event

In these times, many of us are carrying so much. Our communities are under immense pressure—creating feelings of uncertainty and grief. When the world feels heavy, it’s easy to disconnect from ourselves and one another. And yet, it is community that we need most.

This gathering is an offering of pause, presence, and collective care: a space to come home to ourselves and to each other.

Join us this February for a nourishing afternoon designed to help you reconnect with yourself, community, and nurture your soul. Through a blend of rituals, mindful practices, creative expression and coffee, you'll leave feeling refreshed, empowered, and deeply connected.

Event Highlights:

Community Circle: Set the tone for the afternoon by sharing your intentions and connecting with others. This circle offers a space to listen, be heard, and open your heart to new possibilities.

💃🏻 DANCEmandala: Move your body to the rhythm of your soul in this unique movement meditation dance practice. Come prepared to experience freedom, release, and self-expression through intuitive freeform movement.

Coffee Cup + Goddess Cards: Explore your inner wisdom through a guided journey with traditional Arabic coffee around a communal circle. You’ll be led through a process that helps you tap into your intuition and gain insights that will empower you. This exercise will include personal coffee cup readings.

Space is very limited. Reserve your spot today! Once you secure your ticket, Venmo @DemaK; if you do not make your payment within 48 hours of the ticket sale, we will release your ticket.

Early Bird Price (until 2/16): $50

Regular Price (2/17-2/21): $65

A portion of the sales will go to directly to families in need in Gaza and the DC community through mutual aid networks.

Meet the Facilitators:

Dema Al-Kakhan (she/her): Dema is a Palestinian American community organizer and story teller based in the DMV. She holds a degree in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, and a Masters in Middle East and Islamic Studies from the American University of Paris. As a third culture kid, she has a passion for bringing worlds and hearts together. Her lifelong work is around cultivating inclusive healing and community spaces for people of the diaspora. Dema is trained in trauma informed facilitation and a lifelong learner of somatic healing practices. She loves a good 80’s dance party, long dinner parties, and going to concerts.

Shaden Dowiatt (she/her): Shaden is a DC- based facilitator, circle keeper, youth development practicioner and community organizer. She holds a M.A. in International Peace and Conflict Resolution from American University. In the summer of 2022 Shaden completed DANCEmandala’s intensive facilitation training in Chiang Mai, Thailand. She loves dancing and the joy that comes from the practice and is grateful for any opportunity to share it with others. During the day she weaves community, facilitates a lot of community circles and works to build social trust around the country. In her free time, Shaden loves to be in community, travel and learn about other cultures, listen to live music, practice yoga, and adventure through Rock Creek park.
