About this Event

Hag Al Laila at Etihad Museum

  • Date: 15 and 16 February
  • Time: 4:00 - 8:00 PM
  • Location: Etihad Museum Garden

This year's 2025 Annual Winter Weekend Festival in the Etihad Museum garden is themed around Hag Al Laila, an Emirati celebration where children visit neighbours door-to-door collecting sweets. In honour of strengthening neighbourly bonds that have gradually faded with urbanisation, the festival places community connections at its heart.

Focal Pieces

Eternal Gateways: A captivating sculptural installation by Emirati artist Abdulla Al Neyadi, featuring a revolving door crafted from vivid, traditional Emirati-style doors.

Dukkan Al-Etihad: The Etihad Museum’s nostalgic grocery store, styled like the neighbourhood dukkan, offering classic Emirati sweets from yesteryears.

Main Stage

Basma Choir: Enjoy performances by Basma Choir, singing Hag Al Laila songs, Spacetoon favourites, and Khaleeji classics to ignite a collective singalong.

Storytelling: Stories to audiences of all ages.

Freej Screenings: Subtitled episodes of the beloved Emirati animated series Freej will play throughout the evening.

Neighbourhood Games

Traditional Emirati Games: Relive the excitement of childhood with classic games once played in the alleyways of Emirati neighbourhoods.

Football Field: A mini field where children can kick around in a setting reminiscent of playing in their own backstreets.

Retail and Giveaways

We will platform homegrown retailers, and provide plenty of giveaways and sweet treats.

Food and Beverage

Nostalgic Snacks: Popcorn, sweetcorn, Minimelts, and cotton candy.

Tamra and Somsom: Offering Emirati classics, regag, luqaimat, karak, and Arabic coffee.

Crake: A homegrown concept offering specialty cookies and desserts.

Yog Up and Indo-Yo: Bite-sized Levantine favourites like warak enab cups and musakhan tacos, alongside elevated Indomie bowls.
