Each session starts with a warm up and some games to get to know everyone on in the class and ends with some time to practice what you've learned in the class with some open fencing.
Week 1 - the basics of fencing, safety, the piste area and how to move.
Week 2 - the rules for foil fencing, how to referee and how this shapes the game.
Week 3 - how to defend, parries, ripostes, counter attacks and controlling timing.
Week 4 - how to attack, preparations, indirect attacks, compound actions and different situations on the piste.
Week 5 - multi weapons day, use the other weapons of modern fencing, sabre and epee.
Week 6 - mini competition, learn how to use electric equipment, how competitions work and fence with the rest of the club.
At our Southside Centre classes we can also integrate para fencers into sessions.
We also run fun active classes for children 5 to 8 outside of the beginners courses.
