This event is a collaborative initiative with Genisys ARCt, Birmingham Metropolitan College and the Birmingham Commonwealth Association.
This event seeks to celebrate the resilience and contributions of Windrush communities in the UK, while also fundraising and increasing awareness of the Windrush Legacy.
As a valued community or faith-based organisation, your role in bringing people together, preserving cultural identity, and supporting intergenerational learning is deeply recognised. We would be privileged to welcome your representatives to share reflections, experiences, and insights drawn from your work within the community. Your commitment to safeguarding heritage, amplifying lived experiences, and fostering understanding across generations closely aligns with the purpose of this event. A key focus of the event will be to educate attendees about the Windrush Generation and the legacy they have left behind, whilst also highlighting the ongoing Windrush Compensation Scheme. This will ensure they are fully informed about their rights and the support available to them.
Your contribution will have a profound impact, inspiring attendees of all ages, in which you can showcase how your work and business continue to foster the growth, diversity, and social fabric of Commonwealth and Windrush communities.
In addition to guest speakers, the event will feature a range of engaging activities, including:
Community storytelling experiences about Windrush Legacy
Student representing the Windrush Legacy through stories and history
Food stalls showcasing cuisine from across the Commonwealth
Student-led activities such as quizzes, interactive games and raffles
Sponsorship and partnership opportunities for local businesses
Donations are appreciated.
