Create your very own willow shoulder bag. Designed by Sarah so that you can successfully achieve in a day a lovely modern bag that features the stylish diagonal / Irish side weave.
This versatile bag can be finished with a long leather shoulder strap or with two smaller handles made into a perfect sized lunch bag (30cm × 15cm).
You’ll be creating your bag with willow locally grown on the Somerset Levels.
LEARN: An introduction into making willow shoulder bags. How to make a rectangular frame platter base, a 3 rod wale weave with colourful stripe, a reverse 3 rod wale weave, the diagonal / Irish side weave, a 4 behind 1 rod border and how to create leather straps.
ABILITY: Suitable for those with existing willow weaving experience. Especially great for basketmakers who are exploring making willow shoulder bags for sale.
VENUE: Chevithorne Village Hall, Chevithorne, Tiverton, Devon, EX16 7PU. (15 minutes from M5, junction 27, 5 mins from A361 dual carriageway).
TIME: 9.15 arrival for 9.30am start. 5.45pm finish (approximately).
DETAILS: Maximum of 8 participants. Price includes all materials and refreshments. Tools provided. Vegan leatherette handle available. Sarah has teamed up with a lovely local caterer who provides us with a delicious homemade lunch of soup, sourdough bread, cheesy biscuits and cake. £12.50 Lunch payable on the day by card or cash.
