Discover the beauty of spring with Outdoor Chattanooga’s Family Wildflower Walk on the Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail near La Fayette, Georgia. This scenic 0.8-mile out-and-back boardwalk trail is renowned for its spectacular spring blooms, featuring nearly 50 varieties of wildflowers at their peak in March and April. A gently winding wooden boardwalk guides hikers above the meadow to protect the flora. An Outdoor Chattanooga staff member will assist with wildflower identification and provide engaging nature education throughout the walk, making this a fun and informative experience for all ages.
If the group chooses to be a bit more adventurous, another trail breaks off from the Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail leading to a charming waterfall whose flow varies with the season.
Registration is required. Participants may choose to travel in our passenger van, caravan in a convoy, or meet the group directly at the trailhead. Note we cannot transport young children needing booster or car seats. Additional details, including travel logistics and meeting information, will be provided in the confirmation email following registration.
Note this area is a Georgia DNR Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and a pass is required to park at The Pocket. We cannot manage this for individuals through our program. An annual pass is $30, or a daily pass may be available through the Go Outdoors Georgia website. A current Georgia hunting or fishing license may also be used in place of a WMA pass.
