Wild Grass Weaving : Wall Art Workshop
Reconnect with nature and the joy of working with your hands in this intimate wall art weaving workshop. Using locally foraged grasses, you’ll create a unique woven piece that reflects your sense of place and deepens your connection to the natural world. With gentle guidance, explore the textures, colours, and rhythms of weaving while embracing the beauty of organic materials.

The origins of weaving are strongly rooted in place. All basketry traditions are based on the local native plant species, on what could be foraged that was useful. Making techniques developed that suited the specific materials – binding, twisting, stitching, weaving – various ways of joining long, strong and flexible plant fibres.
What you'll learn:
- Grasses to forage and how to prepare them for green use and/or drying and weaving
- How to work with natural fibres for weaving
- Two-strand twining
- Starting and finishing your piece
I will have a range of grasses and fibres but if you have any favourites or can forage from your garden or local bushland = Great - do it and bring it all along. Bring dried and green - we can use all of it!
Any level of experience is welcome.
This workshop is for anyone who wants to slow down, connect with nature and explore weaving; or expand on what you’ve already leant.
Please bring water and your lunch.
