In early summer, the fields and hedgerows of coastal Carswell Farm are full of wild goodness – with greens, salad plants and wild blossoms to forage and enjoy. Come and find out how with Forager Trudy Turrell on a blissful stroll through South Devon countryside, gathering wild food as we go.In Carswell’s Field Kitchen, we’ll prepare, cook and enjoy a summer feast of wild salad, a hot savoury, wild teas, blossom fritters and learn how to preserve the scents of summer too.
Please bring suitable footwear/clothing for walking across fields and coast paths.
Due to the nature of Carswell Farm, this forage isn’t suitable for anyone with mobility impairment and no dogs.

“I have been fascinated by wild foods for most of my life. Working in conservation in South Devon for 20 years gave me the privilege to explore the hidden valleys, coastline, estuaries and woodlands and experience nature daily at first hand. I love to use wild food in favourite recipes and explore ways of preserving it. Sharing knowledge and good food together is a fabulous way to spend time in nature. I have led foraging events for the National Trust, South Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Deer Wood Trust, Ackerll’s Rewilding Project and for families and celebrations. I have led forages at Carswell Farm for Newton Ferrers Primary School for several years. Now, thanks to the owners, I have the chance to share the wild riches of over a thousand acres of carefully managed organic land and seashore with you. “
