🌿 Bears in Hot Tubs at the Wild & Scenic Film Festival 🌿We’re honored to share that Bears in Hot Tubs is an official selection of the Wild & Scenic Film Festival.
The film explores what it means to live alongside wildlife in landscapes increasingly shaped by human presence. Created through an intimate, patient collaboration with Maddie Bear and her kin in suburban Los Angeles, the film invites audiences to slow down, pay attention, and reconsider who our wild neighbors are—and how we might learn to co-thrive in shared spaces.
Rather than framing wildlife as conflict or intrusion, Bears in Hot Tubs centers presence, agency, and relationship. It asks what becomes possible when we recognize wild animals as sentient, self-determined co-dwellers, deeply intertwined with our everyday worlds.
As director Claire Musser shares:
“This film is rooted in patience, empathy, and the belief that stories can shift how we move through shared landscapes. Maddie Bear isn’t a character; she’s a presence. And when we pay attention to presence, we begin to imagine co-thriving.”
We hope you’ll join us to celebrate all that is wild. Get your tickets at the #gcwrp for the in-person or video-on-demand screening!
Wild & Scenic screenings are always thoughtful, moving, and inspiring, and we can’t wait to share this one with you.
