About this Event
As part of the World Festival of Cultural Diversity, the Khalili Foundation, Wellcome Collection, and Wikimedia UK welcome you to a half-day Wikipedia edit-a-thon focused on visual art. The session will include training in wiki editing and experienced Wikipedians will be on hand to help you make changes that stick.
Wikipedia is the world's most popular reference web site, but its coverage of visual art strongly emphasises European culture. The Khalili Collection of Islamic Art (the world's largest private collection of Islamic art) and Wellcome Collection have both shared digital images of Islamic art and invite you to join in improving Wikipedia's articles or creating new articles on art from Islamic cultures or other cultures outside the Western canon. You don't need to be an expert in Wikipedia or in visual art but come open-minded and willing to learn about this fascinating topic.
Please bring your own laptop to this event. The edit-a-thon will take place in the Viewing Room on level 2 of the Wellcome Collection building on Euston Road.
