About this Event
Why French Immersion will take place on May 6, 2026, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at École Barrie Wilson Elementary School. This in‑person information session is designed to support families who are considering French Immersion by providing a well‑rounded, practical overview of the program and its long‑term benefits.
The evening will begin with light food and refreshments available from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m., giving families time to arrive, connect, and settle in before the formal presentation begins. Please ensure to register all attendees so that we can plan for food.
The formal program will run from 6:00 to 7:00pm. It will feature a diverse panel of guest speakers, including key educators from the Red Deer Public and Red Deer Catholic School Divisions, representatives from the Canadian Parents for French (CPF) organization, as well as past and current parents and students. Together, they will share real‑world perspectives on the French Immersion experience, student outcomes, and how families can support learning at home.
The session will address common questions and misconceptions about French Immersion, including language development, academic success, English literacy support, and the cognitive, cultural, and long‑term educational advantages of bilingual education.
Register today, as space is limited. We look forward to seeing you there!
