About this Event

Where the Heart Belongs

“Where the Heart Belongs” is an intimate one-woman performance by Vietnamese artist Linh Tran, presented at the San Diego International Fringe Festival.

🎟️ Official tickets are available through the San Diego Fringe Festival ($13/ ticket):

(Limited seating – early booking recommended)

Blending poetry, dance, and hand-painted visual art, the show transforms the stage into a living gallery-where every movement, costume, and object is an original artwork created by the artist herself.

All songs featured in the performance are original compositions by Linh Tran, who has been writing music since the age of 11. Some poems will be spontaneously sung, with melodies composed live on stage, while dance segments are improvised to original music created in the moment.

At its heart, the performance is a love letter to her first child, and a tender tribute to her second child lost through miscarriage-an emotional journey of motherhood, love, loss, and healing.

As a U.S. Navy service member, mother, and artist, Linh brings a rare perspective-bridging cultural heritage with contemporary expression.

Linh Tran has performed her spoken word poetry across San Diego, including at Slam San Diego, Fashion for Freedom, The Tortured Hearts Ball, Fabric of Pride by San Diego Pride, and Artist in the House by the Junior League of San Diego.

Linh Tran’s visual artwork has been exhibited internationally, including at the Vietnam Women’s Museum, Viet Cultural Space, Collegetown Bagels, the Museum of the Earth in Ithaca, and the San Diego Public Library, and has been featured in Harper’s Bazaar Vietnam. Her work has also been featured in the publication 100 Vietnamese Women Painters, highlighting leading female artists in Vietnam.

What to expect:
• A visually striking, immersive performance
• Original poetry, music, and movement
• Hand-painted costumes and props as living artworks
• Live improvisation-each show is unique
