About this Event
Come join Mountains to Sea and kayak up Te Whau Awa in partnership with Te Whau Pathway Project, Auckland Sea Kayaks and Wai Connection. Hear about the importance of waterway protection, observe nature and local wildlife on display, whilst helping to remove rubbish from the environment. We will also be running nature art, raranga/weaving and freshwater monitoring workshops to fully immerse yourself in connecting with Te Taiao. Please only register for the kayaking if you can commit to the full 4hr timeslot, expect to spend 1.5hrs kayaking and 45mins for each of the workshops.
Sea conditions permitting - we will run with light rain. Koha/donations are appreciated - there will be facilities for cash and eftpos on site.
Children younger than 10 will not be able to participate in the kayaking activitiy but children 5 and up can participate in the nature art, weaving and freshwater workshops. Children aged 10-13 need to have a confident adult in the back of their kayak. Children under 16 need an adult companion. Prior kayak experience and swimming ability is required for the kayaking activity.
Registrations are essential.

- Clothing suitable for kayaking (please no jeans)
- Footwear you do not mind getting wet and muddy

Early access codes for people in the Whau Local Board area will be circulated to local pages or email [email protected] to access (please reference the suburb you live in). Otherwise all remaining tickets will go live on Monday 30th September.

Please note that the maximum weight for the sea kayaks is 120kg per person.
If you are feeling unwell (sore throat, running nose, loss of taste/smell) please let us know prior as soon as possible. You will not be able to attend the event. If you suffer from allergies – please let us know when you arrive.
Cancellation policy: If you give less than 24 hrs notice when cancelling your registration or you no show without a valid excuse (i.e COVID, or other illness/emergency) then you may be sent an invoice of $20 per person. This is to ensure spaces do not go to waste and that people do not miss out on attending.
