Rebecca Davidson, Kaplan
Rebecca started her career as an accounts assistant in a small accountancy firm preparing VAT returns, sole trader and partnership accounts whilst completing her level 2, 3 and 4 AAT qualifications as an apprentice. She then decided she wanted to continue with her studying and completed her Level 7 apprenticeship with the ICAEW gaining her the ACA qualification. Whilst completing her level 7 apprenticeship, Rebecca started to specialise in tax. Completing company and sole trader returns, capital gains calculations, R&D claims and much more whilst looking after her own clients within the firm. Rebecca has recently sat some further tax exams towards her CTA qualification and hopes to have this completed by the end of the year.
Genelle Benton, Progressing towards becoming a Chartered Management Accountant and currently undertaking CIMA Level 7
Genelle is a seasoned business professional with over 20 years of experience in building customer and client relationships in the banking and education sectors. Before joining Gateley Global, she spent 18 years at Barclays Bank in various roles, including Customer Advisor, Moment Banker, and Finance Analyst at their Head Office in Canary Wharf. Her responsibilities ranged from managing operational and technology costs, overseeing financial reporting, and analyzing customer spending habits to streamlining reporting processes and policies. Prior to her career in the UK, she worked as a Housing Officer at Ross University School of Medicine and as a Document Management Officer at The National Bank of Dominica. Currently, as the Manager for Gateley Global, Genelle leverages her extensive experience to keep the company at the forefront of clients' minds and serve as their primary contact for new opportunities. She is also actively involved with the Kaplan Apprenticeship Association Panel, contributing innovative ideas to enhance the learning journey for finance apprentices.
Poppy Laila, Personal Development and Inclusion Manager, Kaplan Financial
Poppy 's career in education and apprenticeship has seen her involvement in coordinating additional learning needs provisions to maximise equity for all learners by removing any barriers and making learning as inclusive as possible. Additionally, she is the current careers lead at Kaplan, a qualified Mental Health First Aider and safeguarding representative. Poppy chairs the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) and Careers Information, Advice, and Guidance (CIAG) champions at Kaplan to promote equality, diversity and inclusivity in all areas of education and apprenticeship.
Jenny Pelling - Director of Apprenticeship Development and Diversity at Kaplan Financial
Jenny's career in education and apprenticeships has seen her involvement in designing programmes and enhancing provision for learners and employers' benefit. She is the strategic lead for careers and personal development for apprentices, is a qualified Mental Health First Aider, as well as being responsible for governance. She is part of the Apprenticeship Leadership Team and the EDI Steering Group.
