About this Event
WHAT WE TRIED TO BURY GROWS HERE is a debut novel set in the Basque Country during the Spanish Civil War that focuses on the experiences of ordinary people on both sides of the conflict. Through a chorus of voices, the novel explores how the war fractures communities, forces impossible choices, and leaves deep wounds that remain long after the fighting ends.
A finalist for the Los Angeles Times Book Prize, the book was released in the UK and Europe on February 12.
Author JULIAN ZABALBEASCOA will be in conversation with The Write Salon co-founder WILLOW MATA. The event will include selected readings followed by audience Q&A.
We’re pleased to collaborate with Librería Parent(h)esis for this event at their Madrid space in Lavapiés. The conversation will be held in English.
