About this Event
“When Your Ex Turns the Kids Against You is a compassionate and practical guide for one of the most painful experiences a parent can face. With clarity and authority, it offers both validation and strategies for navigating the minefield of parental alienation while keeping the well-being of children at the center. An invaluable resource for parents and professionals alike.”
Lisa and Chris' first book, Been There Got Out: Toxic Relationships, High-Conflict Divorce, and How to Stay Sane Under Insane Circumstances (Wordeee, 2023), is a comprehensive overview of the divorce/custody process for people getting out of relationships with narcissists and other high-conflict personality types.
The event includes a copy of the book and a drink.
Lisa Johnson is a certified domestic violence advocate, a trained crisis counselor, an educator, a professional writer, and a former high school English teacher. She represented herself (pro se) in family and appellate court through eight years and more than one hundred court appearances, which was a job unto itself. Lisa received her B.A. from SUNY Albany, her Master’s Degree from the University of Bridgeport, and is a fellow of the Connecticut Writing Project. Lisa has written for Mothering Magazine, Fit Pregnancy, Writer’s Digest, and other publications. She has been a guest on CNN and quoted in The New York Times.
Chris Barry is a Certified High-Conflict Divorce Coach who has also successfully represented himself post-judgment. Before launching BTGO with Lisa Johnson, he built another online business that attracted avid fans worldwide. His background is in software sales for several startups, one of which was acquired by Microsoft. Earlier, he was a financial advisor for a decade, and is fluent in personal financial issues. Chris earned a B.S. in Marketing from Lehigh University and an MBA in Management Information Systems from Seton Hall University.
Lisa Johnson and Chris Barry are veteran high-conflict divorce, custody, and co-parenting strategists who fill in those critical gaps between what attorneys often aren't trained to do and therapists don't understand. Their clients and broader community are dealing with horrendous situations—often in and out of the legal system—all stemming from abusive relationships with intimate partners who have some form of personality disorder, commonly narcissism.
Their coaching and education practice initially focused on legal abuse, and they quickly learned how consistently their clients' exes work to undermine their relationships with their children in their ceaseless campaign to leave their victims homeless, penniless, and childless. In all they do, Lisa & Chris strive to bring practical, actionable advice to those being tormented by abusers in plain daylight.
