About this Event

Please Note: This workshop is suitable for those with some brush miliage, advancing into intermediate skill levels. If you have done any of Bruce's previous workshops or tutition with another watercolourist, this workshop is suitable for you.

Description:

Bruce is offering a curriculum based watercolour workshop for those seeking tips and techniques to take them to the next level. Aimed at those with some brush mileage beyond beginnings. Day 1 will consist of themes and scenery in the countryside while day 2 will look at the more urban cityscapes and scenes. Between these subjects you will dive in looking for the story to be found.

Please note: There is no guarantee that you will go home with a completed work(s) but you will leave with the skills and knowledge needed to complete the project at home.

About the Tutor: Bruce Griffith

Bruce is an emotive artist searching for light and storyline. This 18th Solo Exhibition is a select collection of new works in this exciting medium. Painting traditional but semi-realism juxtaposing impressionism. He paints what he sees but more importantly he paints what he feels about what he sees. There is a difference.

Bruce is a CQU graduate, past McGregor & AOTB tutor, prize-winning artist, exhibitor, workshop tutor & increasingly sought after for commissions, as demonstrator of watercolour fine art & workshops. Member of Toowoomba Art Society, Watercolour Society of Queensland, Watercolour Society of Victoria. Bruce is an arts teacher Toowoomba & was declared Grand Champion of Paintings Toowoomba Royal Show 2022 & 2023.

It was not always like that. Many years SE Qld construction scene & a lifetime of fishing & the bush has instilled a love of the outdoors.

Self-taught, Bruce will forever be indebted to his early days with world renowned Australian & overseas artists Robert Wade OAM, Robert Lovett, Greg Allen, David Taylor, Alvaro Castagnet, Joseph Zbukvic & Thomas Schaller, following that up with formal university qualifications through CQU, leading me to a more professional direction of what I am now. This is a rich heritage to widen one’s horizons.

This full-time practising artist has an art studio in Kleinton, Queensland. He engages in workshops & teaching both locally & intrastate. “Teaching makes me a better artist.” He has learnt from some of the best in the world in watercolour & it takes a while to appreciate what is important, rejecting paintings that do not meet his increasingly exacting standards. “Work like that, art will find you.”
