About this Event
Accessibility is often treated as a compliance requirement or an afterthought in digital design, something to retrofit rather than embed from the start. Yet nearly 1 in 4 people in the UK live with a disability, and many more experience temporary or situational barriers every day.
This interactive workshop challenges that approach and reframes accessibility as a powerful driver of better digital experiences. Through real-world examples, from inclusive advertising to mainstream technologies shaped by accessibility, attendees will explore how designing with a wider range of human needs in mind leads to simpler, more intuitive, and more effective products.
Participants will then take part in a hands-on design challenge, working in small groups to solve a common digital problem using accessibility-first thinking and lived-experience-inspired personas. By starting with a broader understanding of user needs, they will uncover new ways to design services that work more effectively for everyone.
