What makes you glow? Can you describe, with words or pictures, the light inside of you and the spark you see in others? If you'd like to try, join us on Saturday, September 28th for an afternoon of lantern making with teaching artist Julia Lipovsky. Through writing prompts, collaborative drawing, and creative reuse, artists of all ages are invited to contribute to What Grows Together, Glows Together, a BLINK installation featuring hundreds of community made lanterns. We'll be creating at WordPlay Cincy during this wonderful workshop: 1556 Chase Avenue in Northside! This event is free, for all ages, and a pizza lunch will be provided!WordPlay is an arts-organization that sparks storytelling through creative expression and arts in healing with Cincinnati’s young people to cultivate belonging, celebrate our strengths and empower the community in its pursuit of social justice.
This event is coordinated in partnership with ish. ish is a Cincinnati-based community engagement organization centering Jewish arts and cultural traditions as a platform for creating connections and understanding through art, ritual, creative experiences, and socio-cultural change. Since 2022, ish has been the producing partner for the BLINK Parade.
From its first event in 2017, BLINK’s founding team sought to nurture a sense of community and connection through public art. They came together, a collection of creatives, entrepreneurs, local artists, art enthusiasts and arts supporters, wanting to show Cincinnati what a future city could be – through an unforgettable art experience. Light was the medium.
Now in its fourth iteration, BLINK has become more than a gift to the city. It attracts artists from around the globe who believe in its mission. It attracts over 2 million people who walk the city’s blocks in wonder and amazement. It crosses a river and connects a region. It provides a $126 million economic impact to our region. But it also still connects us. We welcome everyone to experience the light, the art, and our community.
