WEST END GAP is debuting their music for the first time at the John Curtin Hotel on May 15th with Naarm mainstays Banksia and Sjay.Founded in Naarm/Melbourne in 2026, West End Gap is an 8+ piece collective, exploring and expanding upon the music of Fela Kuti and Tony Allen. Led by Iliya Zakharov and Michael Campelj, West End Gap is reimagining the musical, political and philosophical art of afrobeat, highlife, jazz and hip-hop.
Debuting their syncopated rhythms, lush horns and tight grooves for the first time at the John Curtin Hotel on May 15th, West End Gap is eager to put on an impactful show and get dance floors moving.
Joined by Banksia and Sjay, whose contemporary nu-jazz and RnB have solidified themselves as mainstays in the Naarm music scene. Exploring psychedelia, latin & house rhythms, hip-hop and RnB, their listeners and invited to dance, move, feel and connect to their soulful soundscapes.
