The SBA's Mentor-Protege program helps eligible small businesses (protégés) gain capacity and win government contracts through partnerships with more experienced companies (mentors). Protégés can get valuable business development help from their mentors in several areas, including
- Guidance on internal business management systems, accounting, marketing, manufacturing, and strategic planning
- Financial assistance in the form of equity investments, loans, and bonding
- Assistance navigating federal contract bidding, acquisition, and the federal procurement process
- Education about international trade, strategic planning, and finding markets
- Business development, including strategy and identifying contracting and partnership opportunities
- General and administrative assistance, like human resource sharing or security clearance support

About the Presenter
Ranvir “Ana” Singh is a business opportunity specialist in the 8(a) Business Development Program at the SBA. She has proudly served the country in the U.S. Air Force and then went on to pursue her MBA. Ana has a strong passion for businesses…especially small businesses because she grew up in a family owning several small businesses and owning her own small business. She understands the obstacles that many small business owners may face in doing business with the government and the private industry. Therefore, wants to assist and educate these businesses in navigating through the processes.
