Wednesday Evening Pottery Social Club comes out of a longing from my inner child, and making it come true as my adult self! I've never been one for parties, but gathering meaningfully is something I love and has profound effects for all of us.
I know many people feel this way! We are some combination of introverted/extroverted, introverts who like people, extroverts who like to be chill.
So I wanted to foster a social environment that allows people to sometimes sit in quiet presence with each other and make things with their hands, allowing conversation and relationship to unfold naturally over a number of weeks. Our focus is not just making pottery, but making connections.
Restore yourself midweek with a relaxed social environment, snacks and mocktails. And also learning to make some really gorgeous pottery projects for yourself!
Can you tell I'm a fan of Priya Parker's book "The Art of Gathering".
This four-part series will focus on a new clay Handbuilding project each time, and I will also have some fun conversation prompts, mocktails (yay, I'm sober!) and snacks!
We'll also have an optional appetizer potluck!
So, if one week you want to make something special to try out on new people, and the next you want to bring a bag of chips, that is all ok! Potlucks are fun and communal! This is low-pressure.
PLEASE READ FAQ BELOW BEFORE BOOKING.
We'll be learning a variety of techniques including slump mold, coiling, pinching, slab building and textured stamp making. We'll be using a buff clay with speckles for an earthy look, fired to mid temperature cone 6. So your pieces are food and dishwasher safe. We'll have a variety of colored underglazes and a selection of fun glazes
Week 1 Workshop: coiled berry bowls and making handmade clay stamps
Week 2 Workshop: textured Platters made with our fired stamps
Week 3 Workshop: coiled vases and flower 'bricks'
Week 4 Workshop: slab built and pinched butter dishes and candle holders
All tools and supplies are provided: Clay, underglazes, glazing and firing.
Plus sparkling water, tea and light snacks and mocktails! We'll be doing an optional appetizers potluck.

WHEN YOU BOOK:
You will receive an important Informational Email.
It will come from "[email protected]" the day you order, with your Order Confirmation.
PLEASE SCROLL all the way to the end, to find the Informational Email, to know what you need to bring, and how to find the studio.
WHEN TO ARRIVE:
Please plan to arrive to the studio no later than the start of class; in order to find parking, arrive to the area 10 minutes before.
Sadly, we cannot accommodate people who arrive late. During the summer, the doors are locked 10 minutes after, because we will be in the Studio Garden.
Demos start promptly at the start of class time. Due to the structure of class, demos cannot be re-done for late-comers without cutting things out of class for everyone.
The Garden Studio Workshops are held in a small urban forest with towering heritage Douglas Fir trees, that create a cool and pleasant shade garden, even in the height of summer. MAY-SEPTEMBER
Workshops are held rain or shine, because there is a covered workshop and a festival tent.
OCTOBER-MAY Workshops are held inside my cozy studio in the trees with a woodfire stove!
