Weaving Crackle

Dates: Three Saturdays, Apr 12, Apr 26 & May 17 2025, 10 am – 12 pm all days. Sales end: Apr 5. Ticket: $70. Instructor: Barb Gallagher. Materials fee: none. Skills Needed: students must be able to warp their own loom, read a draft, and work independently. Class Limit: 8

Crackle (on 4S) is a very versatile weave structure that is suitable for many different woven items (bags, clothing, runners, towels, etc). It is similar to overshot and Summer and winter since it uses a pattern weft and a tabby weft. Learn how to use the 4 pattern blocks to create geometric designs. All work is to be done by the student on their own loom.

We meet three times:

• 1st is to go over how crackle works and how to make a sampler.
• 2nd session will be a critique of students’ samples , and a chance to ask questions about what you’ve done and any problems you encountered. Then we’ll help get your project planned.
• 3rd and final session will be to bring in your finished project and discuss how it worked and any future projects you have in mind.

This course is designed for students to work on their own loom. Guild members may be able to use a guild loom, but must first check with Equipment Coordinator, Janie Yates ([email protected]) for availability.

If you are not feeling well, please contact the instructor instead of coming to the class. On a case-by-case basis, we may be able to reschedule you into a future class or provide a make-up lesson. Ticket fees are not normally refunded.

Depending on the for Hamilton County at the time the class is held, a mask may be required. If so, you will be notified before the first class.

Unless specifically stated, Weavers Guild classes are designed for ages 18 and above. On a case-by-case basis, a minor may be permitted to register for a class but must be accompanied by a registered adult who agrees to assist the minor during the class. Contact the Education Committee Chair at [email protected] for permission before registering any minor in a class.

Fees are non-refundable. Your fee will only be refunded if the class is canceled or changed to a different date. Three registrations are required for a class to be held. Students will be notified before the start date if a class is canceled due to an insufficient number of students. Eventbrite processing and credit card payment fees will not be refunded if a student cancels for any reason.
