About this Event
Step into the intersection of experimental object-making and wearable design in this 3-part hands-on workshop hosted at MACEL Studios by Automara.
This series introduces participants to the process of creating custom silicone forms using pre-designed and 3D printed moulds, and transforming them into wearable pieces. Across three sessions, participants will explore silicone casting, material manipulation, and garment integration—resulting in a one-of-a-kind wearable object.
No prior experience is required. This workshop is ideal for artists, designers, and anyone interested in unconventional materials and wearable art.
Participants will select from pre-made moulds, with the option to customize a provided item or bring their own wearable base.
Workshop Flow
Session 1 - Casting (June 6th)
Introduction to mould-making + 3D workflow (demo)
Overview of mould preparation (epoxy sealing + release agents)
Hands-on silicone casting using pre-made moulds
Choice of clear or black pigmented silicone
Session 2 - Integration (June 13th)
Demoulding, cleaning, and refining silicone forms
Trimming and finishing edges
Adhering silicone pieces to fabric-based items
Begin wearable transformation
Participants are encouraged to bring their own base item.
