Join master painter Ong Kim Seng and indulge in Plein Air Watercolour Painting
Join us for an exclusive plein air watercolour painting workshop led by renowned master painter Ong Kim Seng, one of Singapore’s most respected watercolour artists. this immersive outdoor session will be held in the historic naturescape surroundings with Dhoby Ghaut Green, offering participants a rich urban landscape to paint from life.
Join us for this 3.5H Watercolour Painting Masterclass guided and led by the eminent Singaporean Watercolour painting master Ong Kim Seng himself! This workshop is conducted at an open air environment, with shelter and good ventilation with fans. In the beginning of the workshop, there is a 45minutes of botanical and architectural sketching, followed by nearly three full hours of studying and practising watercolour painting.

Under Ong Kim Seng’s guidance, participants will learn how to observe and interpret real environments through watercolour—focusing on light, atmosphere, composition, and expressive brushwork. The workshop includes live demonstrations, practical techniques, and personalised guidance drawn from the artist’s decades of professional experience.
Designed for watercolour enthusiasts, art students, and practising artists, this workshop offers a rare opportunity to study plein air painting directly with a master. Participants will gain deeper insight into translating everyday urban scenes into confident, atmospheric watercolour works.
The workshop is a fully guided and accessible learning experience in one of Singapore’s most culturally vibrant districts.
The artist Ong Kim Seng is a master in creating watercolour works with vibrant colours and exquisite expression of light – a technique that resemble Impressionism art movement (a famous name rising up during this movement includes Monet with his famous Cathedrals: A Life Study of Light series, The Cliff Walk at Pourville and Women with a Parasol – Madame Monet and her Son).
In this Watercolour Masterclass Workshop, Ong Kim Seng will introduce you to his techniques and practice in:

- Watercolour painting techniques for Landscape;

- Course fee:
$180/pax – with materials for drawing and painting are provided. A sketching book and pen set is complimentary gift.
$140/pax – without materials *( please bring your own)

8.30am-9.10am: Participants will engage in plein air sketching at Dhoby Ghaut area
9.10am-10am: Participants will return to Visual Arts Centre’s studio
10am-12pm: Watercolour in Action! Participants will learn watercolour painting techniques and apply them to create their masterpieces!
