About this Event
Watercolor Open Studio dates are two hours per session, administered jointly by Carmen Bauer and Ingrid Farnham. Both can provide personalized direction and demo any number of watercolor painting techniques. Carmen specializes in animal and human portraits and Ingrid in land/waterscapes and still life so there is a wide array of subject expertise available.
Class size is limited to 12 to provide individual attention and help. There will not be formal teaching lessons but appropriate demos and recommendations to help students with their painting questions. As time permits, Carmen and Ingrid will be working on paintings that students can observe.
Recommended for people with some basic watercolor knowledge but all experience levels welcome.
Students can paint their own choice of subject or workshop hosts can provide a reference photo/subject. Students can bring an in-progress painting or start one at Open Studio. They can seek help or critiques as needed. If there’s interest, Carmen and/or Ingrid may teach a separate watercolor fundamentals class.
Participants are responsible for bringing their own materials for the workshop. There is no specific set of supplies required for open studio sessions since each attendee will have different supplies for their own painting project. If unsure, ideal materials are listed in the supply list below. Arches 100% cotton paper (cold press), Princeton Heritage 4050 brushes (size 4 and 8 rounds are good to start), and professional pigments in pans or tubes, eg., Daniel Smith, Maimeri Blu, Holbein, Winsor & Newton or QoR. All are available for purchase at Plaza Art store. Students should bring water cups, paper towels, pencil, kneaded eraser, masking tape and reference pic(s) as needed. Workshop host will bring some sample materials. Participants can test them out if interested.
