About this Event
The third Lab Talk in the series will focus on integrating water into planning processes using interdisciplinary, multi-stakeholder approaches, with insights from the PolyUrbanWaters pilot sites in Southeast Asia.
Moderated by Henk Ovink, supported by the Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU), the Embassy of the Netherlands in Berlin and in collaboration with the PolyUrbanWaters project
The Lab Talk aims at raising awareness of water-related issues, integrated urban development, climate resilience, community living, resource-sharing, disaster prevention and self-sufficiency.
It will emphasise the importance of cross-sector collaboration in addressing water management challenges and explore how polycentric approaches can effectively integrate water into urban planning processes. The central role of local stakeholders in developing tailored, sustainable solutions will also be a key focus. The discussion will highlight good practices from the PolyUrbanWaters pilot sites as well as other projects in Southeast Asia.

ABOUT THE SERIES
is a series of six Lab Talks dedicated to building future resilience. Aedes seeks to identify and discuss sustainable water-related architectural and urban development projects that also address the (re)establishment of socio-economic coherence through conscious water management. Interdisciplinary experts explore the role of water in climate change mitigation — from reducing CO2 emissions and ecological footprints to adaptation and resilience in urban and national contexts, and recognising water as a common good from source to sea.
ABOUT POLYURBANWATERS
PolyUrbanWaters is a research and project network funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) that consists of academic institutions, municipalities, local and national government agencies, civil society and private-sector stakeholders from Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Vietnam and Germany.
Working through this network and on the ground in three pilot cities, the PolyUrbanWaters project aims to generate comprehensive scientific knowledge that helps develop practice-relevant strategic planning models for fast-growing cities and peri-urban areas in Southeast Asia, enabling them to implement polycentric approaches for water-sensitive urban development.
