Join us for an exclusive Watch Party event, Calligraphy of the Mus’haf (Qur’an) in the Chinese Style, with the renowned master calligrapher Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang.
In this session, Haji Noor Deen will explore the fascinating history of how Chinese Muslims recorded the Holy Qur’an using Chinese-style Arabic scripts. The event will feature a detailed introduction to the tools and techniques used, followed by a live demonstration of how to write in this unique style.

What is a Watch Party?
A Watch Party is an in-person gathering where people come together to watch and create during a selected session of Islamic Art Week 2025. It’s a wonderful opportunity to learn, create, and connect with like-minded art enthusiasts in your local community.
About the Calligrapher
Haji Noor Deen Mi Guang Jiang is a world-renowned calligrapher whose work beautifully bridges Chinese and Arabic artistic traditions. In 1997, he became the first Chinese calligrapher to be awarded the prestigious Certificate of Arabic Calligraphy in Egypt, and in 2017 received an Ijaza from leading Ottoman calligraphy masters in Istanbul.

Following the Watch Party, participants will be invited to a guided tour of the Hiç: In Pursuit of Nothingness exhibition currently on display at Yunus Emre Institute. The tour will be led by the exhibition’s curator, Nagihan Seymour, offering unique insights into the theme of hiçlik (nothingness) and its artistic interpretations through calligraphy, illumination, and ceramics.
