This is a skills focused course designed to prepare the developing fireline supervisor to undertake safe and effective fire operations.
About this Event

Forest Grove Fire & Rescue is excited to announce the delivery of the 2026 Washington County NWCG Intermediate Wildland Fire Behavior Course (S-290).

There are no tuition costs to attend this training. This training is only open to members of Washintgon County Fire agencies.

Class will be hosted the FGF&R Station 4, located at 1919 Ash Street, Forest Grove.

This NWCG course is designed to help fire personnel develop fire behavior prediction knowledge and skills.

Date: Sat & Sun, May 2-3, 2026 (Blended Course - precourse work is required)
Time: 0800 - 1700 Daily. Must attend both days to receive credit

Course Description: This course is a blended training course, combining online portions with instructor-led training. The online component should take approximately 22 hours to complete, followed by 16 hours of in-class instruction.

This is a skills focused course designed to prepare the developing fireline supervisor to undertake safe and effective fire management operations. It is the second course in a series that collectively serves to develop fire behavior prediction knowledge and skills. The course will train students how to make a thorough, timely assessment of the fire environment and to anticipate changes in fire behavior based on changes in and/or alignment of the fuels, weather , and topography. Students will then practice using this information to support their decision making and risk management on the fireline.

Students would come prepared with appropriate note-taking materials inclduing paper & pen/pencil, as well as your own lunch or money to go purchase your own lunch during class lunch breaks.
