About this Event

Talking is healing. Being heard is healing. Being witnessed is healing. This is a space for you to be whole, and to learn to hold the wholeness of others.

Through highs and lows, we are stronger in sisterhood. We make better decisions when we have a community of women reminding us of our higher selves as we do the shadow work that comes with living. This Women’s Circle is a space to express ourselves without judgment. As we weave our truth, we hold a mirror to the women around us. Through all ages and stages, we find threads that connect us. The hard-earned wisdom of our humble experience is often the key to beauty another sister needs.

Being a woman is undefinable, and yet comes with many shared experiences. Rooted in the perspectives of Earth-Based Spirituality, this community will explore wisdom about various themes related to womanhood such as connection to the earth, self-esteem, work-life balance, menstruation, sacred sexuality, family relationships, childbirth, sacred union & marriage, gender-based discrimination, menopause, crone stage, legacy and beyond.

Our intention is to feature a different activity by a woman in the community at each circle as a way to practice shared leadership. If you are interested in offering your gifts, please let us know. You shining your light makes everyone else shine brighter, too.

The Moon provides a helpful way to measure cycles of time. The crescents after the New Moon or Full Moon offer a time to process their intensity. We meet on Waning Crescent Moons to ride Nature’s energy of climax, harvest, and letting go. As the saying goes, after every great expansion, there’s great contraction. That means we’ll be meeting the 4th Sundays of the month for the next couple months. If you are interested in this cycle, look into the complementary Waxing Crescent Journaling Club events also hosted at Miami Life Center on the 2nd Sundays of the month.

What to Expect:

In this month’s Owning Our Stories workshop you can expect:
Opening Poem
Grounding Embodiment Exercises for a Nervous System Reset
Intention Setting
Personal Mythology 101
Talking Circle telling our stories like it’s all happening for our benefit
Optional Round of Feedback or Gratitude
Closing Song
If the number of participants is too big for one big circle, we will split up into smaller circles to give each woman time to deeper into her story, and share out to the big circle.

We close by committing to action steps inspired by our talking session to complete by the next month’s meeting.

How to Prepare:

The space is ours to create so feel free to bring whatever your heart desires. Whether that’s cookies or a song or an object for the altar. Many find it helpful to bring your own journal and pen. We’ll have some extras handy just in case. We’ll also serve some complementary herbal teas to support the intention of focus and vulnerability.

Bio:
Yadira Capaz is a research-based artist healing the future, and an avid women’s circle practitioner for 5 years. She has 10+ years of experience producing workshops and retreats on Leadership, Creativity, and Human Connection across the US and Latin America. She is known for engaging communities in climate justice, holistic wellness, creative tech, and entrepreneurship for social impact. She weaves together her explorations in art therapy, herbalism, the performing arts, somatic healing, earth-rooted facilitation, conscious play, design thinking, and much more to create intricate transformative experiences that function as modern-day rites of passage for her community. Yadira believes teaching as she learns is the best way to serve her community. Her strong roots in African and Indigenous wisdom ground her methodology in a decolonial and ecofeminist framework. She plants seeds of wholeness, vitality, resilience, joy, and creativity for all of us to flourish together in a changing world.
