About this Event
This guided walking meditation will help you practice staying in your senses and getting curious about the natural world around you. Meditation can be fun! Small group size means more individualized attention. Slow down in our fast-paced world and reconnect with the healing power of nature. We will also learn grounding exercises and a few simple, proven somatic and nervous system regulation tools (different techniques each class). You can use these in your daily life to calm your mind and body. Walking meditation is a practice and the more you practice the more benefit you will see in your life.
Meet across the street from the Mount Tabor Park parking lot.
Rain or shine. Dress for the weather.
About your instructor:
Natalie Hunt holds a master’s degree in art therapy from George Washington University. She realized pretty quickly that practicing traditional indoor therapy was not for her. After a serious illness left her sensitive to indoor lighting and screens, she discovered firsthand the healing power of being in nature. Natalie grew up in the world of meditation and at one point traded it in for activism before realizing she could have both. She is dedicated to making meditation and nervous system regulation feel easy and fun. Along with sharing the healing gifts of the trees, she has a deep interest in sharing the physical gifts of the trees. She is a land steward with Portland Food Forest Initiative and volunteers regularly with Portland Fruit Tree Project. In the fall, she loves to teach people how to process acorn flour which can taste surprisingly like graham crackers!
