Join us for Walk the Talk, a free guided walk series featuring guest experts. Our next walk explores the gateway to the City to Sea Pathway - the 11km walk and cycleway that follows the Ōtākaro Avon River from the city through to New Brighton. Hear from Ashley Campbell, ECan Councillor and founding member of the Avon-Ōtākaro Network and Greening the Red Zone, about the early campaign to return this area to nature and the ongoing commitment needed to prioritise environmental restoration.
Additional speakers will share insights into the river before settlement, environmental impacts, and the challenges of polluted waterways and biodiversity loss, as well as long-term regeneration and restoration efforts, including the planting of indigenous vegetation along the Avon-Ōtākaro corridor.
Stay on after the walk for a free sausage sizzle and a cuppa.
