Fife Out and About Walking Group (a Mountaineering Scotland affiliated club) invite you to walk with us as a guest on this walk.
A low level end to end walk from Burntisland to Aberdour exploring the Old North Road (the original road from the Granton to Burntisland ferry up to Perth), the intriguing Cullaloe Tower and Cullaloe Temple follies, the Mount Laura Tower watchtower and Otterston Loch.
You are reminded that this is not a led walk. We walk as equals and you are responsible for your own safety and welfare. Please ensure you have read our before joining the walk.
Distance: 10.5 - 11 miles
Ascent: approx 400m
Terrain: Paths (unsurfaced), tracks and some tarmac. One section can be very wet underfoot.

Estimated walking time: 5 - 6 hours
What to bring:
- WATERPROOFS (ideally breathable)
- WALKING BOOTS (unlikely that trainers or walking shoes will be suitable)
- ROUTE MAP
- EXTRA INSULATION LAYER (to be carried in addition to what you are wearing)
- HATS AND GLOVES
- FOOD/DRINK (for lunch plus extra for emergency)
- SMALL FIRST AID KIT
- TORCH (preferably head torch)
- BUS FARE/PASS
Proposed route: Out from Burntisland via Kilmundy Hill (meeting with the route of the Old North Road) and the gorse path to Dunearn. Join the Old North Road at Stenhouse Reservoir leaving it when it turns north to cross what is now Mosmorran. Track through Cullaloe Woods stopping to view the follies of Cullaloe Tower and Cullaloe Temple. Continue through woodland passing Mount Laura Tower (a watchtower) then on to the road at Otterston Loch (good for ducks). To Aberdour via mix of woodland and coastal path.

Return to Burntisland by bus or train unless we are get ourselves organised and have cars at either end.
