Sunday March 22nd 2026, 10:30-12:30 (approx.)Broxtowe Country Park and Chilwell Dam Plantation (despite the name this is in Broxtowe and is part of the Country Park!)
Meeting Point: Mornington Crescent, near the southern junction with Woodhouse Way, the A6002.
What 3 words: ///noises.cakes.ever - SK515430 – Nottingham NG8 6PP
Public Transport: Nearest bus services are the 77 and 78 – get off at Flamsteed Road. It’s about ¾ mile from there to the meeting point.
Chilwell Dam Plantation, not surprisingly, is a wet woodland! It has lovely spring flowers, some indicating ancient origin. Later in spring drifts of ramsons (wild garlic) scent the air. We will probably also explore the route of the Broxtowe Boundary Hedge, marking through the centuries part of the boundary between Nottingham and Broxtowe Borough.
The walk will probably be less than 2 miles, but some of the paths are likely to be muddy.
Booking not needed – but do click ‘Going’ on Facebook if you like.
What to bring: waterproof footwear, warm clothes, rainwear if applicable.
Our next event after this one is City Nature Challenge 2026! More details to follow, or see our Project on iNaturalist: https://uk.inaturalist.org/projects/city-nature-challenge-2026-nottingham-city-uk
