Walk and Talk with Irish Stammering Association & Belfast Stammer Support

This is an opportunity for people who stammer and allies in Ireland and Northern to meet up to Walk and Talk with other people who stammer.
About this Event

This walk is a joint initiative between the Belfast Stammer Support Group and the Irish Stammering Association.

Location: Slieve Donard, County Down.

Meeting Point: 10am, Donard Car Park, Saturday 13th June 2026.

Length of Walk: 4-5 hours.

What is the Walk and Talk?

This will be a social gathering and will provide an opportunity for those who stammer, their family and friends, or those with an interest in stammering to walk and talk together.

We will enjoy a shared hike on Slieve Donard, a muchloved and iconic peak in the Mourne Mountains. Together, we’ll take in the beautiful landscape as we make our way along the wellknown trail.

We will meet at the car park at the base of the mountain before setting off.

As the walk involves 4-5 hours of walking, it may not be suitable for children

under 10, and anyone under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

You are welcome to bring along friends/family members.

How do I take part?

Please express your interest in this event before Saturday 6th June.

What should I bring?

Please ensure to bring comfortable walking shoes and fluids.

How do I get there?

From Dublin: Drive north via the M1 to Newry, continue on the A25 to Newcastle, and turn onto Downs Road to reach Donard Park car park at the foot of Slieve Donard (around 1 hour 45 minutes).
From Belfast: Drive south to Newcastle (just over 1 hour), then follow signs through the town to Downs Road, where Donard Park car park marks the main starting point for the Slieve Donard hike.
