About this Event
Wagashi Workshops
A beginner-friendly series of hands-on cooking workshops to learn the fundamentals of Japanese style confections (commonly called 和菓子 wagashi), traditionally enjoyed with tea.
About the Workshop
Learn traditional Japanese ingredients and basic techniques for making sakura themed wagashi from Sen Sakamoto of Kintoki Sweets. The workshop will cover basic techniques and tips to create clear agar jellies used for wagashi, basic mochi making techniques, and an overview on how to preserve your own sakura blossoms at home.
Equipment and ingredients will be provided. All skill levels are welcome. However, we will be working in a fast-paced kitchen environment, so a minimum age of 16 is recommended.
Please bring your own apron and a small container to take home your creations at the end of the class.
PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is vegan friendly and wheat-free but please note the kitchen is not a certified gluten-free kitchen.
