About this Event
While the majority of the artists use avatars as a way to obscure, distort or create a completely new persona, Marina Abramović is among the few who faces the audience as herself, using the avatar to extend her practice.
Drawing from art, technology, and personal experience, the talk examines how anonymity can both liberate and conceal, how different artists utilise avatars, and how presence can be felt even when the body is absent.
Together, these themes invite us to question what it means to be “seen” and “known” in an era where identity is increasingly fluid, mediated, and performative.
This collaboration between W1 Curates and TAEX is part of W1 Curates’ Frieze programme, bringing together bold installations and immersive digital art to create a celebration of the arts that everyone is invited to.
Visitors are advised that this is a limited capacity event, it will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
