Det Vandrende Menneske – om tapte røtter, moderne rasisme og usynlige maktstrukturer. Med et skarpt blikk på Danmarks koloniale og postkoloniale rolle i Kalaallit Nunaat.Året er 1978. Den danske staten har sendt unge Malu for å bo i et hus sørvest for Aalborg C for å gi henne tilgang til «en kultur med fremtidsutsikter». En sang fra SUMEs nyeste LP dundrer fra kjøkkenradioen, og Malu klarer ikke å stå stille.
Plutselig er det noen som slår av musikken. En antropolog står på kjøkkenet. Hun sier at hun har en avtale. Noe om et forskningsprosjekt om «unge grønlendere i Danmark». Men Malu snur seg og begynner å gå. Tilbake til Kalaallit Nunaat. Baklengs gjennom tiden.
Antropologen følger etter med en veske full av analysemodeller og redningsutstyr, og sammen går de gjennom 300 år med kolonisering av et land, et folk og dets sjel; de går og går helt til antropologen blir sliten og roper: «Hvor skal du? Du kan ikke fortsette å gå baklengs!» Men Malu svarer: «Jeg går ikke baklengs, jeg går fremover mot noe som alltid har vært der.»
Teaterforestillingen Det Vandrende Menneske handler om Danmarks koloniale og postkoloniale rolle i Kalaallit Nunaat (Grønland). Det er en kritisk forestilling om usynlige maktstrukturer, historisk og moderne rasisme, evnen til å overleve under press og, ikke minst, retten til sin egen historie.
Forestillingen er ikke bare en kunstnerisk utforskning, men også en sosial og politisk intervensjon. Fortellingen er skrevet som en form for magisk realisme og iscenesatt med en fysisk sensuell skuespillerstil, omkranset av et avansert lydunivers og intenst spill med lys og mørke

The Wandering Human – of lost roots, modern racism, and invisible power structures. A sharp look at Denmark’s colonial and post-colonial role in Kalaallit Nunaat.
The year is 1978. The Danish state has sent young Malu to live in a house southwest of Aalborg to provide her with access to "a culture with future prospects." A song from SUME’s latest LP blares from the kitchen radio, and Malu cannot stand still.
Suddenly, someone turns off the music. An anthropologist is standing in the kitchen. She says she has an appointment—something about a research project on "young Greenlanders in Denmark." But Malu turns around and begins to walk. Back to Kalaallit Nunaat. Backward through time.
The anthropologist follows with a bag full of analytical models and rescue gear. Together, they walk through 300 years of the colonization of a land, a people, and its soul. They walk and walk until the anthropologist grows weary and shouts: "Where are you going? You cannot keep walking backward!" But Malu answers: "I am not walking backward; I am walking forward toward something that has always been there."
The theatrical performance The Wandering Human (Det Vandrende Menneske) addresses Denmark’s colonial and post-colonial role in Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland). It is a critical performance about invisible power structures, historical and modern racism, the ability to survive under pressure, and, above all, the right to one’s own history.
The performance is not only an artistic exploration but also a social and political intervention. Written in the style of magical realism, it is staged with a physically sensual acting style, surrounded by an advanced soundscape and an intense interplay of light and shadow.
