About this Event
Mercat Moments is our brand-new series of community events designed to bring people together through stories, creativity and conversation. From inspiring author talks and lively book discussions to hands-on poetry and writing workshops, each event is a chance to pause, connect and discover something new.
Whether you’re a passionate reader, an aspiring writer, or have never picked up pen and paper before, Mercat Moments is your invitation to step into the bookshop, meet like-minded people and share in the magic of words.
Come along, pull up a chair, and enjoy a moment at the Mercat!
Join us on Saturday 16th May for a writing workshop led by local poet R S Kendle, to explore folklore, write in a gentle and supportive space, and to come together as a community.
Inspired by VSA's 1874 “flower mission”, in which volunteers brought posies of flowers to those ill or isolated in hospitals or at home, and the Victorian secret language of flowers, we will explore the symbolism of plants and how we can use them as seeds for our own writing.
R S Kendle is a poet and creative practitioner from the north-east of Scotland. A winner of The Poetry Archive’s WordView, and Best Of The Net nominee, their work has been featured in several anthologies and digital publications, including Acropolis Journal, Azarão Lit Mag, Clarion, Dust Poetry, and The Winged Moon. Follow them on Instagram @rskendle.
